cuadra.

For Shopify stores in Spain

Every Shopify order gets its Verifactu invoice. Hands-free.

Cuadra issues the invoice or receipt for every sale, chains it with its hash, adds the tax QR code and sends it to the Spanish Tax Agency. Refunds get their corrective invoice automatically.

Illustrative Spanish invoice. Data and QR code are made up.

What changes

Shopify sells. It does not issue Verifactu invoices.

From 2027, any software a Spanish company or self-employed seller uses to invoice must record every invoice in a chained, tamper-proof way. Shopify does not do that on its own.

Who
Companies and self-employed sellers taxed under the common Spanish regime. The Basque Country and Navarre have their own systems (TicketBAI / Batuz).
When
Companies from 1 January 2027. Self-employed from 1 July 2027 (Royal Decree-law 15/2025).
What is required
Every invoice recorded with a chained hash, a QR code on the invoice, and software with a signed statement of compliance from its maker.
Penalty
Fines of up to €50,000 per year for using non-compliant software (art. 201 bis of the General Tax Law).

What Cuadra does

Built for how an online store sells

Automatic

One invoice per order

A simplified invoice for consumers, and a full invoice when the customer enters a tax ID at checkout.

Refunds

Corrective invoices, done

Every full or partial refund in Shopify creates its corrective invoice, linked to the original.

AEAT

Sent in VERI*FACTU mode

Every record is sent to the Spanish Tax Agency and retried if the connection fails.

Customer

QR in the email and account

The invoice with its QR code arrives in the order confirmation email and stays in the customer account.

Accountant

Export for your gestor

A ledger of issued invoices ready to send each quarter, with VAT broken down by rate.

Legal

Statement of compliance

Included in the app and in every version, as Royal Decree 1007/2023 requires.

Questions

What stores ask us

Do I need to issue invoices when I sell to consumers?+

Yes. Every sale in Spain needs an invoice, although for consumers a simplified invoice (the old "ticket") is usually enough. From 2027 that invoice must come from Verifactu-compliant software.

I already invoice with Holded, Quipu or other software. Do I need Cuadra?+

If that software already issues the invoice for every Shopify order and is Verifactu-compliant, probably not. Cuadra is for stores whose invoices come from Shopify today, or from an app that is not compliant.

Does the AEAT certify Verifactu apps?+

No. The Spanish Tax Agency does not approve software. Each maker signs a statement that its software meets the rules. Cuadra will include it in the app.

Does it work in the Basque Country or Navarre?+

Not yet. Those regions use TicketBAI and Batuz, which are not Verifactu. If you sell from there, join anyway and tell us your province.

What about invoices from before I install the app?+

The obligation applies to invoices you issue from your start date. Earlier invoices do not need to be redone.
